Mon Assurance : the startup that democratizes security

01.04.19 Startups

On March 4, 2019, Pivot 4.0, Gabon's digital incubator, hosted its first startups incubated as part of the Cohorte Innovation 4.0 acceleration program. A month later, we take news of these startuppers through a series of interviews.

Starting with the presentations, can you tell us about your team?

The members of our team are all versatile. We do not have specific tasks, each of us contributes a stone to the building in many ways. In the staff, we have:

  • Yannick ABOH, the CEO, rigorous leader ;
  • Junior MOUANGA ZELE, marketing director, whom we call "the man in the field" because his effectiveness in obtaining contacts is a real asset for us ;
  • Évelyne TCHOUA, accountant by training and developer, a woman who has always believed in our project and who never stops encouraging and guiding us;
  • Yan MANIME and Mr INNOCENT, both developers, and whose effectiveness and seriousness are well known;
  • Achille FOKAM, our computer graphic designer, who designed the logo of Mon Assurance;
  • Jennifer MINKO, general manager, developer, whose creativity and efficiency in strategy allows the project to progress quickly.

Speaking of projects, please explain yours a little bit

Mon Assurance is a Web and Mobile platform that offers general public visibility to Gabonese insurance companies. In concrete terms, the platform allows potential customers to find the insurance offer that best suits them with a few clicks thanks to a price comparison system. This saves the customer time, effort and money.

They no longer need to stress, they can subscribe and renew their policy online without having to travel.

How did you come to develop this solution?

We noticed that the insurance sector is unknown to the Gabonese population. Insurance alone generates more than CFAF 100 billion per year, but only 2% of the population subscribes to it. They are considered by the average citizen of our neighbourhoods as "a matter of the rich". But security is not the monopoly of the bourgeoisie. We want to destroy this erroneous image and offer all social categories the chance to secure their future through our application.

As entrepreneurs in Gabon, have you encountered any challenges so far?

Yes, including the difficulty in obtaining funding.

Congratulations for your selection in Cohorte Innovation 4.0. How do you think this acceleration program will transform your startup?

In all humility, we admit that we do not master the world of entrepreneurship because we have only recently embarked on it. But we believe in our idea and we believe that the expertise and advice of the SING will allow us to safely embrace this sensitive environment.

It's been 1 month that you integrated Pivot 4.0...

Yes and we were able to understand the challenges that await us in the future.

Finally, what do you love most about SING ?

We love the staff, they are extremely professional. We also adhere to the meaning of innovation in incubation.
